Thought I’d share some more useful tips :)

Setting up the VPN

You can try the Cisco AnyConnect client, or this:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Network

  2. Click on the + button to add the vpn configuration.

  3. Select for Interface VPN, give it a name and click Create.

  4. Type l2tp.purdue.edu in the Server Address field
  5. Type your Purdue user name in the Account Name field (without the @purdue.edu)
  6. Click the Authentication Settings... button
  7. In the Password field enter your Purdue Password and in the Shared Secret field enter PurdueVPN (it is case sensitive).
  8. Click OK.
  9. Check the Show VPN status in menu bar box (a new icon will show on the top right corner of the screen).
  10. Click Apply and then close the window.

Now, you can look for the VPN icon on the top right of the Mac and click Connect Purdue VPN.

Setting up the printers

  1. Go to System Preferences
  2. Choose Print & Fax
  3. Click the + button to add a printer
  4. Press the control key while clicking the Default icon (or any other icon on the toolbar), then choose Customize Toolbar from the contextual menu that appears
  5. Drag the Advanced (gear) icon to the toolbar
  6. Click Done
  7. Click the Advanced icon that was added to the toolbar
  8. Choose Windows from the Type pop-up menu
  9. In the URL field, type the printer’s address in one of the following formats: smb://cups.cs.purdue.edu/<printer_name>

  10. In the Name field, type the name you would like to use for this printer in Mac OS X

  11. In the Use field, choose Generic PostScript Printer
  12. Click Add
