Timeline

This is a rough timeline of how my application process went, to give you an idea of what was involved.

August

  • Study for GRE
  • Prepare CV
  • Prepare Statement of Purpose
  • Prepare reference packets for my references (letters of recommendation)
    • Include: CV, Statement of Purpose, courses taken with them, projects worked on along w/materials, list of schools I was applying to, pre-addressed envelopes, list of contents… (and a usb with digital versions of all)

September

  • Take General GRE
  • Give reference packets to recommendation letter writters

October

  • Begin fellowship applications
    • Make online application accounts
    • Start filling out information
    • Send links to recommenders
  • Begin grad school applications
    • Make online application accounts
    • Start filling out information
    • Send links to recommenders

November

  • Start submitting fellowship applications
  • Follow-up with recommenders

December

  • Submit grad school applications

January to March

  • Wait for decisions

March and April

  • Visit schools

April

  • Make final decision

August

  • Start grad school! :)
